A research method built around the decision item, accountable role, unresolved dependency and next action.
01 / Evidence labels
Every tool uses four explicit labels.
- Documented: the supplied excerpt supports the statement, based on your confirmation. It is not independent verification.
- Self-reported: a stated position without corroborating evidence.
- Unclear: wording or evidence needs qualification.
- Not supplied: the input contains no supporting information. This does not prove a control or capability is absent.
02 / Research provenance
The research library contains 167 pages across 12 areas, with a recorded last update of 20 October 2026. Source dates, qualifications and research gaps stay attached to the findings. The earlier buying guides remain available alongside the library. Assessments apply published editorial rules; they are not proprietary studies, certifications or verified supplier rankings.
03 / Task allocation
The decision guide uses published points and stop conditions, not a fit percentage or security score.
- Tool +3: a bounded extraction/comparison task with a reviewer.
- Build +2 each: existing entitlement and a named operator.
- Build +2 each for operational work: adequate implementation capacity and overnight cover.
- Expert +4: an unstaffed operational response requirement.
- Expert +3: testing, retainer or fractional leadership requirement.
- Expert +2: short deadline plus unavailable internal capacity.
- No reviewer blocks Tool; missing operator, expertise or required operational cover blocks Build-only. Unknown prerequisites remain qualification questions. Ties produce combined routes.
04 / Cost arithmetic
Billable units round up after stated annual growth. Recurring base fees are the larger of quantity × unit rate or the monthly minimum, multiplied by 12 and the stated annual increase. Ingestion, retention and support are separate; escalation applies only according to the selected scope. Onboarding is added in year one and exit in the final selected year. Internal hours × hourly cost stays separate. Missing inputs produce an incomplete known-cost subtotal, never a complete total.
05 / Provider evidence
All five records are explicitly fictional. Examples show commercial and operating boundaries only. No ticks, rankings or scores stand in for verified performance. Real suppliers, product entitlements and prices require current source checks before use.
06 / Corrections
Use the contact page to prepare a correction identifying the page, disputed wording and supporting source. Your message is saved securely for the editorial team to review. Corrections cannot purchase prominence.
07 / From evidence to action
Use the desk to make a decision reviewable: identify the requirement, record the available evidence, name an accountable reviewer and list the unresolved questions. Decision checks organize the information you supply using stated rules. A result does not verify a product entitlement or establish that a control works; those conclusions require current documentation and an appropriate technical review.
