The official CMMC material reports that Phase II was suspended on 13 July 2026. Do not continue to present the former 10 November 2026 start as an unchanged requirement. Current official program page; updated program FAQs.
The suspension does not mean “no cybersecurity duties.” Current guidance describes interim self-assessment arrangements and selected government assessments, while the relevant DFARS and contract requirements still need to be checked. The applicability of specific controls, information categories and assessment requirements depends on the contract and environment.
What to do now: have the contract owner list applicable clauses and identify where covered information resides. Ask a specialist to distinguish contractual obligations already in place from the suspended phase. Update procurement decks and supplier questionnaires that still repeat the old schedule. Preserve existing security work and evidence unless the accountable owner authorizes a justified change.
Buying trap: paying for a certification timetable based on an outdated slide, or cancelling all preparation because one phase was suspended. Ask for the exact source, revision date and contract basis behind any proposed assessment.
Evidence limit: several defense pages blocked direct retrieval; the status was corroborated across official search-indexed program pages and official July guidance. Reopen the current official materials with the contract owner before relying on them.
